Iniakuk Lake Wilderness Lodge (Brooks Range)
The Iniakuk Lake Wilderness Lodge is a luxurious fly-in lodge. Almost 400 km (250 miles) north of Fairbanks and about 90 km (55 miles) north of the Arctic Circle, it offers every luxury imaginable while still being a wonderfully cozy log cabin. It's ideal for wildlife viewing – and in winter and spring the northern lights are a true highlight.
In winter, dog sledding, ski touring and snowshoeing are the activities of choice, and under the northern lights they're simply magical. In summer it's river trips, fishing and flightseeing trips that get your heart racing. Although the lodge can only be reached by plane, it has power around the clock and running hot water – all 100 percent solar powered.
The lodge was built by hand in 1974 by John Gaedeke's father and has been in the family ever since. Every trip here is planned individually. Even the menus are discussed with guests in advance and put together to suit their wishes. The Iniakuk Lodge has an outstanding gourmet kitchen that uses almost exclusively local ingredients.
