Heliskiing in Alaska is every freerider's dream

Heliskiing / Freeriding

Heliskiing and freeriding in Alaska! The dream of every »powder hound«. Nowhere else will you find such vast spaces and such a huge choice of extreme terrain. Different regions of Alaska offer wildly different conditions.

Take Haines, for example: it's famous for its extreme slopes and couloirs, familiar from freeskiing and snowboarding films like "That's It, That's All", "Legs of Steel" and "Shades of Winter". Fittingly, our partner in Haines is the same outfit the film crews fly with. Here it really is all about extreme skiing. Don't expect mellow slopes or luxurious lodging, but do expect your adrenaline levels to stay sky-high from start to finish!

One bay over, in Skagway, there's room for some more relaxed, just-for-fun skiing. But of course you'll find plenty of extreme descents here as well. In Skagway we work with Alaska Mountain Guides, an internationally renowned company that can accommodate (almost) any individual request.

And last but not least, there's Thompson Pass near Valdez, a giant playground for every kind of winter sports enthusiast. It's no coincidence that many international freeskiing stars have their own little cabin here. Again, you'll find every kind of run imaginable. Our partner here is "Rendezvous Heliskiing". Besides the heliskiing operation, they also run one of the hippest and coziest bars and lodges in Alaska, the Rendezvous Lodge.

Some of our guides work for all of these companies at once, which gives you the unique chance to hit several destinations on a single trip, e.g. Haines, Valdez, Juneau and Cordova.

With us, a heliskiing/heli-snowboarding trip doesn't automatically mean pricey accommodation in a heli lodge. Depending on the location and your needs, you can choose between rustic self-catering cabins, lodges or full board. As true ski fanatics ourselves, we always try to keep lodging and living costs as low as possible so there's more money left over for the heli.
