Tom´s Premium Selection presents: 12 Days Through Southern Alaska with murkl.com

For this trip through Alaska, we at murkl.com are teaming up with Tom´s Premium Selection. The motto of the trip: trying out the unknown. Through the south of Alaska.

You start with a spectacular flight from Anchorage to Gustavus, set in a chain of islands on Alaska's breathtaking glacier coast. On a boat trip into Glacier Bay, with its imposing glaciers rising straight out of the sea, you can watch whales, sea lions and seals. And an experienced ranger takes you on a hike through the northernmost rainforest in the world.

From Anchorage you then take the train through Denali National Park to Talkeetna. This is where the expeditions to Denali, the highest mountain in North America, begin. You take a closer look at Denali and the surrounding glaciers from a propeller plane and watch the brave climbers from above.

From Anchorage you head to Homer, the last stop of the trip. Tutka Bay Lodge is your luxurious home for the next four days. Boat and fishing trips, hikes, helicopter flights – there are no limits to what you can do here.

Try something new every day. Experience Alaska. After this trip, you'll want to come back to the land of great opportunities again and again.

Description

12 days through Alaska with Tom´s Premium Selection

DAY 1: Arrival in Anchorage

Welcome to Alaska! A shuttle picks you up right at the airport and takes you to your first accommodation, the Hotel Captain Cook.

DAY 2 & 3: Off to Gustavus

You begin your journey through Southern Alaska with a spectacular flight from Anchorage to Gustavus, set in a chain of islands on Alaska's rugged glacier coast. The Gustavus Inn spoils you all-inclusive for the next two nights. The boat trip into the famous Glacier Bay brings many new moments you've never experienced before. Only two commercial boats a day are allowed into the bay, and it is closed to cruise ships. This untouched setting gives you a good chance of seeing whales, sea lions, seals and other marine life in the bay. Bears are often out and about on the nearby shore, too. And then there are the house-sized chunks of ice that break off the glacier and crash straight into the sea. Watching this spectacle from a safe yet close distance is a real highlight!

DAY 4: Back in Anchorage

Back in Anchorage, an experienced ranger takes you into the northernmost rainforest in the world. Nature, wildlife, wide open spaces – and a bit of exercise. What more could you want!

DAY 5: By train to Talkeetna

In a panoramic railcar, you ride the train along a beautifully scenic route through Denali National Park to Talkeetna in the interior. This town of adventurers has a very special atmosphere. All expeditions to the Denali massif start here. You spend the evening at a small local brewery, listening to the climbers' gripping stories.

DAY 6: Glacier flight from Talkeetna

Today a small propeller plane brings you a whole lot closer to Denali. From above, you watch the brave climbers on their way to the summit of the highest mountain in North America. And today's highlight into the unknown: a glacier landing near the summit of Denali.

DAY 7: From Anchorage to Homer

After your flight to Homer, you stop over at Lands End Resort. You enjoy the rest of the day and the evening right on the Homer coast, surrounded by that typical Alaskan way of life. You'll feel right at home, so you can head on relaxed the next day by water taxi to the remote Tutka Bay Lodge.

DAY 8 – 11: Adventure and wellness at Tutka Bay Lodge

Tutka Bay Lodge is already the last part of this adventure trip. On these last four days, you can choose from a wide range of options: hiking, boating, fishing, deep-sea fishing, helicopter or bush plane flights – whatever you want to do, our guides are happy to help.

DAY 12: Farewell to Tutka Bay Lodge and Alaska

The days have flown by far too quickly. Now you take the water taxi back to Homer and continue from there to Anchorage. This is where your trip ends (for this time), unless you've already planned to travel on.
